Members of An Garda Síochana in Kilkenny have warned people driving too fast near estates within the built up areas they will receive fines and penalty points.
On Monday morning and Wednesday evening, Kilkenny gardaí carried out checks on the Johnswell and Golf Links Roads respectively. On both occasions motorists were detected significantly over the speed limit and were issued with fines.

"In one detection yesterday evening the motorist accelerated towards the garda holding the speed gun in plain sight with the garda vehicle also plainly visible," a post to the An Garda Síochana Kilkenny Facebook page read.
"The garda then observed the motorist still accelerating continue past, oblivious! Hopefully the fine and penalty points will change future behaviours," the post concluded.
