Woodstock in County Kilkenny
The development of a new link between the Woodstock Estate, near Inistioge in County Kilkenny and New Ross where it will join the wider South-East Greenway has been described as a 'gamechanger' by councillors in the area.
The project is being funded by Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) and is expected to be completed early in the next decade.
Following a briefing at January's sitting of the Callan-Thomastown Municipal District, local representatives across the political divide united in their support of the project.
"I'm delighted that we're starting to see progress and the first steps in realising what what will be an absolute gamechanger if we could succeed in getting this over the line," Fine Gael councillor, Michael Doyle said.

"Hopefully we'll all be around to see a completed project in the future. If we as councillors can be of any help in the process, we're more than happy to put our shoulder to the wheel," he continued.
"There's no doubt it will be a gamechanger, please God everything will go according to plan, not only for the economic growth but the huge increase in tourism too," Fianna Fáil coucillor, Deirdre Cullen added.
"It's a hell of a long phase, people don't realise how long it actually takes for projects like this take."
"It's very heartening that the public consultations will be starting quite soon and as Michael (Doyle) said, we will certainly work with you with the public consultation," Cllr Cullen commented.
"The whole project is going to be very beneficial for the South-East and getting people and tourists in (to South Kilkenny)," Fine Gael's, Cllr Joe Lyons remarked.
