Sinn Féin MEP for Ireland South Kathleen Funchion has said the next government must deliver on an upgrade to the Port of Waterford, located in Belview, South Kilkenny.

“It is now inevitable that Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael, propped up by Independents, will form the next government. Whilst I do not believe this is good news for workers or families, I would still urge the incoming government to deliver the policy changes needed to help those who are struggling and to help our regions develop," says MEP Funchion.

“One such project I believe the next government must prioritise is the upgrade for Waterford Port. I have met with the team from the Port of Waterford, and it is clear to see their ambition for the region. The Port can play a role in helping us meet our climate objectives, and boost economic activity in the region.

“I would therefore urge the next government to finally deliver on the Port of Waterford upgrade so that the entire region can benefit."
