ChangeX has launched the second PwC Resilient Communities Fund - the €100,000 fund is designed to empower individuals and teams across the country to spearhead local community projects that promote inclusion, equitable access to opportunities, skills development, and sustainability.

The initiative is the result of an ongoing partnership between PwC Ireland and ChangeX, a community engagement platform designed to get funding and resources directly into the hands of people ready to lead impactful projects in their neighbourhoods.

This new fund builds on the success of a 2024 fund that supported 40 projects across Ireland, impacting almost 2,800 people so far.

“We’re delighted to partner with PwC for the second year of this fund,” said Niamh McKenna, co-founder and head of impact at ChangeX.

“This initiative empowers local changemakers to create positive change in their communities, as shown by the wide range of wonderful projects we saw come to life across Ireland last year. From hands-on learning programmes for children to language classes for migrants, the projects fostered inclusivity and strong community connections. Building on that success, we’re excited to deepen our impact and support even more community-led projects.”

This year’s PwC Ireland Resilient Communities Fund invites applicants to choose from a portfolio of transformative project ideas. Individuals and teams can apply for funding to start one of these projects, at which point they will have 30 days to form a project team and develop an action plan. Once they have completed these steps, they will be eligible for start-up funding. Funding will be awarded to qualified applicants on a first-come, first-served basis.

As well as the continuation of some projects from last year, there are new innovative projects included this year:

 - Hour of Code: The Hour of Code challenge gives students a fun first introduction to computer science

- My Mini Growing Space: creating a small woodland or edible garden

- Solar Education: a programme to help students and teachers connect the topics of energy transition and photovoltaics

The proven ideas on offer through the fund have already had a positive impact in communities across Ireland and, through ChangeX’s international activities, in other communities around the world.

To date, more than 1.2 million people have been impacted through ChangeX.

Applications to the PwC Ireland Resilient Communities Fund can be made on the ChangeX PwC fund page.

Enda McDonagh, Managing Partner, PwC Ireland, said:
"Aligned with our new Social Impact Strategy, PwC has partnered with ChangeX for a second year of the PwC Ireland Resilient Communities Fund. This fund is designed specifically to support local community groups across the country in starting impactful projects based on proven ideas. It reflects our focus on inclusion and making a meaningful impact in supporting the communities in which we live. This initiative will continue to support local community-based changemakers across Ireland to turn their ideas into reality, shaping a more equitable, inclusive and sustainable future.”
