Kilkenny County Council give the green light for upgrade works at the Watergate Theatre

Kilkenny County Council has granted permission for much needed energy upgrade works to take place at the Watergate Theatre in the city.

The local theatre, first opened by President Mary Robinson in 1993, has staged countless national, international and world-renowned performances across all genres.

Amongst the measures included in the project will be the installation of new insulated cladding to the auditorium and fly tower of the theatre.

The process will now move to detailed design and preparation of tender documents.

The Board of the Watergate Theatre has warmly welcomed the approval by the local authority.
