A Kilkenny soccer club has released a statement with 'much annoyance and frustration' following a theft from the club's Fair Green pitch.
"Callan United had a orange can recycle bin on the fair green, which we were using to help our continuous fundraising efforts, so all cans collected were going towards this," the club posted to social media.
"Last weekend the bin was just full but when our caretaker came in after the weekend the bin was empty and all the cans gone. This would have been about a hundred euros worth in the recycle bin.
"Callan united is continuously striving to better our grounds and facilities for the children of Callan and some people think it’s ok to just come into our grounds and take things," the post added.

"It’s sad when we can’t even collect a few cans to help the club without them being stolen on us. Shame on people who think this is ok."
It's a blow for the St Canice's Credit Union Premier Division outfit in what had been a positive week up to this point.
Earlier this week it was announced the club's junior squad agreed a sponsorship deal with the Playwright Bar on Kieran Street in Kilkenny City who will sponsored their new training gear.
