Council coffers received a notable boost in revenue from 'parking fines and charges' in Kilkenny in 2024.

According to Kilkenny County Council’s most recent unaudited Annual Financial Statement, 'parking fines and charges' raked in €2,602,829 last year, a jump from €2,341,199 in 2023.

The financial records classify income from parking fines and charges under the broader category of 'income from goods and services', which collectively brought in €29.7 million in 2024.

Parking revenue alone accounted for a significant chunk of that, underscoring its importance to the council’s budget.

The two largest sources of income in this category were €12,060,728 in 'rent from houses' and €4,744,667 from Uisce Éireann.
