Deputy Cleere received confirmation of his appointment from An Taoiseach Micheál Martin

Fianna Fáil TD for Carlow/Kilkenny, Deputy Peter ‘Chap’ Cleere, has been appointed Agriculture Spokesperson for the party.

Deputy Cleere received confirmation of his appointment from An Taoiseach and Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin today.

“It is a real honour to be appointed Agriculture Spokesperson for Fianna Fáil,” he said. “I will approach this role with integrity, a strong sense of responsibility, and humility. I believe in supporting our farmers right across the board.

“Farmers do integral work for our economy, and are the backbone of our local communities. They are the custodians of our landscape, ensuring sustainable food production for a growing world population,” he said.

“I look forward to working with Minister Heydon on very important issues facing farmers across the country, whilst also engaging with both local and national agriculture companies and farmers.

“I’d like to thank An Taoiseach Micheál Martin for his continued support for me and entrusting me with this role and responsibility. Fianna Fáil in government will support farmers and the agri-food sector by using every policy lever available and ensure vital farm payments are protected and expanded.

“By being Agriculture spokesperson, I will work tirelessly to ensure we continue to deliver on the important issues faced by the industry,” he concluded.
