A warm welcome back to the council chamber in County Hall was extended to Cllr John Brennan on Tuesday by Cathaoirleach of Kilkenny County Council, Cllr Michael McCarthy.
Cllr Brennan, a local councillor in the Castlecomer Municipal District, had been unable to attend recent council meetings in-person, as he continued his recovery from a sudden health setback.
Brennan, a former Cathaoirleach of Kilkenny County Council himself, is a popular figure, and received a round of applause from his fellow elected members, as well as from members of the executive.

He thanked his fellow elected members for their cordiality, and stated that he was keen to get down to the business of the meeting, and to continue in his role representing his constituents.
Cllr Brennan was one of many councillors to offer their thoughts in relation to the planned wind farm in North Kilkenny, which was the focus of the meeting.
