A 5.5km stretch of the South-East Greenway (Ferrybank to Curraghmore) is set to open in the coming months, with final works now underway.
A mural, funded by Creative Ireland, is planned for a concrete fence in Ferrybank, with input from local community groups.
Meanwhile, design and planning work continues on the remaining sections of the 24km route. To date, around 14km are either complete or substantially complete.

Progress is also being made in relation to trailhead plans for Rosbercon, land acquisitions, and ecological and heritage surveys.
Links to Glenmore, Slieverue, and Woodstock (Nore Valley Greenway) are in various stages of design and consultation.
The greenway aims to encourage greater levels of travel via cycling and walking rather than private car use amongst leisure users, tourists, and commuters.
The opening of this route and its connection with the Waterford Greenway and local villages will, in due course, represent a valuable tourism amenity in Ireland in attracting visitors to Ireland’s Ancient East.
