Fears over future Kilkenny flooding expressed near large city housing estate

Local Fine Gael representative, Cllr David FitzGerald has called for a survey of the River Breagagh adjacent to the Robertshill Housing estate in Kilkenny City.

According to Cllr FitzGerald, a survey is needed to establish the flood levels and if any actions are necessary to address the flood risk to homes at the city location.

Previously, the River Breagagh, a tributary of the Nore has flooded parts of the city, most notably during Storm Ciara in 2020.

The matter is due to be discussed at July's sitting of the Kilkenny City Municipal District on Friday.
