Gardaí in Kilkenny are appealing for witnesses following a dramatic incident yesterday afternoon that led to the arrest of three people on Maudlin Street.

In a statement, gardaí said: “Following a serious incident, gardaí in Kilkenny are asking anyone who may have information or dashcam footage to contact Kilkenny Garda Station on 056 7775000.”

According to the statement, gardaí from Unit D Kilkenny made a fast response to intercept three suspects after multiple reports described a dark Peugeot being driven beyond recklessly on the Old Dublin Road.

“A couple of points stand out after this. The quick response to a serious hazard by numerous motorists avoided head on and possibly fatal collisions. Normal people did what they could do to stop outrageous behaviour that compromised the safety of all.”
