Fate of wind turbines back on the table after local opposition in Kilkenny

Seskin Renewable Energy Limited have appealed a decision recently made by Kilkenny County Council (in relation to a wind farm development) to An Coimisiún Pleanála.

Last month, Kilkenny County Council refused the applicant planning permission for the 'construction of six wind turbines and all associated works' in the townlands of Ballynaslee, Seskin, Ballyconra and Moatpark, County Kilkenny.

An Coimisiún Pleanála are now due to make a decision on the planning appeal by February 3, 2026.

A separate planning appeal has been lodged by the same applicant in relation to a recent decision made by Laois County Council, who refused planning permission for two turbines (as part of the same wind farm).

Seskin Renewable Energy Limited is a subsidiary of Atlantic Infrastructure Renewables (AIR), which is an Irish-owned company based in County Limerick.
