Kathy Long releases her debut EP this Friday PICTURE: Julie O'Brien
Irish alt-pop artist Kathy Long releases her debut EP titled ‘Element’ this Friday.
‘Element’ is a four song EP, with each track symbolising one of the four elements of nature; Fire - Glow Gold, Air - June, Earth - West and Water - Langeveien. Just as the four elements interweave to create our existence, each song on this EP expresses a unique wave of Long’s diverse soundscape identity; from earthy acoustics and folk influence to ethereal electronic production.
‘Langeveien’ is the final track on Long’s ‘Element’ EP. This delicate and hopeful new single ‘Langeveien’ means ‘Long Road’ in Norwegian. Through a tapestry of self-questioning lines, this song wonders about belonging and purpose. Reflecting on the idea of “the long road”, it paints an image that the most meaningful gifts in life are those crafted slowly.
Kathy Long is an Irish musician from County Kilkenny who will release her highly-anticipated debut EP this Friday.
Long's music is a genre-bending sphere of lyrical expression who is performing at various venues around Europe and festivals such as Electric Picnic. Her singles ‘June’ and ‘Glow Gold’ gained considerable traction from Irish/UK radio as well as being featured in Hot Press, District magazine, RTE and more.
Kathy Long has recently moved to Bergen, Norway, where she is collaborating with Norwegian musicians and producers for her next projects. Her debut EP titled ‘Element’ is released this Friday (October 17) - this is a project that is a musical reflection of the elements - fire, air, earth and water.
‘Element’ will be launched with an EP release gig at the renowned Apollon Platebar in Bergen on Thursday (October 16), in the run up to various other gigs to finish 2025, including supporting David Keenan on his Irish tour ‘Chasing Myth’ at Rothe House in Kilkenny on October 30.
