RIP: Kilkenny GAA in mourning as 'a true gentleman' passes away

The death of local GAA stalwart Ned Buggy was announced on Monday with the Kilkenny County Board describing Mr Buggy as 'a true gentleman'.

Ned was well-known in local GAA circles, particularly at his local club Dicksboro, and served as a former secretary of the Northern Board as well as PRO of the Kilkenny GAA County Board.

"A true gentleman who was held in high esteem by all who knew him," a county board spokesperson said in a statement.

"Kilkenny GAA extends its deepest condolences to Ned’s sister Teresa, his partner Eva, cousins, extended family, neighbours and wide circle of friends.

"Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam," they concluded.

ARRANGEMENTS: Ned will repose in Shasby’s Funeral Home, Kilkenny City on Thursday (October 16) from 3pm to 7pm followed immediately by removal to St Mary’s Cathedral, Kilkenny City for reception prayers at 7.30pm (rosary and vigil prayers in funeral home at 6.30pm).

Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Friday (October 17) in St Mary’s Cathedral at 10.30am followed by burial in Foulkstown Cemetery.

The Requiem Mass will be live streamed at www.stmaryscathedral.ie

Family flowers only please, donations if desired to The Capuchin Friary, Kilkenny - donation box in Funeral Home and Church.

Additional car parking spaces will be available at UPMC Nowlan Park during the hours of Ned’s Reposal.

The Funeral Cortége will walk from St Mary’s Cathedral enroute to Foulkstown Cemetery via Parnell Street, New Street to the Waterford Road Roundabout.
