New to National League level basketball, CluneTech Kilkenny Stars have managed to get a notch in the win column with a 61-56 victory in Limerick over the Sport Huskies in the Domino’s Women’s Division One.
In a game where the lead changed hands seven times, Kilkenny were the side to finish stronger. Led by 15 points and 11 rebounds from Stephanie Davis, Kilkenny took the lead late in the third quarter and did not go behind for the remainder of the game.
As for Limerick Sport Huskies, Shelby Harmeyer followed up her great showing against Limerick Celtics last week with 14 points and 15 rebounds yesterday. Clara Gomez had a game high 24 points, but it just wasn’t meant to be for the women in Blue.
Elsewhere in division one, Limerick Celtics made the journey up north to face Cleveland Rockets in Belfast and left with nothing as Rockets took home a comprehensive win in an 82-65 victory.
Rockets led by as much as 20 points as a stellar 27-point performance by 17-year old Aoibheann Donnelly drove home the emphasis on a big win for women from Belfast in their opening game of the season. As for Celtics they take their first loss of the season after an opening win against Limerick.
