Works have begun on a new extension to the Mother of Fair School at James’s Street in Kilkenny City.
An archaeology team is now on site conducting a dig to discover what appears to be the remnants of the 1770s Cathedral campus which was located in this area.
The area also housed the former Bishop’s Palace right up to Dr Collier’s time as Bishop of Ossory.
