Members of the Kilkenny Fire Service responded to an incident on High Street in the centre of Kilkenny City.
Kilkenny Live understands an electric box above a retail outlet caught fire at some point around 12noon on Tuesday afternoon.
Access to High Street was blocked off for a time.
There have been no reports of injuries.
