Sgt PJ Griffin and  Garda Brian Whitty

Members of An Garda Síochana from across County Kilkenny have paid tribute to Garda Brian Whitty who is departing from the Thomastown-Graignamanagh garda area and transferring to Kilkenny City.

"He might be a Corkman through and through but Garda Brian Whitty promises to display the Kilkenny crest with pride!," a garda spokesperson said.

"Sgt PJ Griffin made a presentation to Brian today on his transfer to Kilkenny Garda Station having been an integral part of Thomastown and Graignamanagh for 17 years.

"His commitment to the Thomastown District and of course his character and wit will be missed.

"We all wish Brian every health and happiness in his years ahead in Kilkenny. The Thomastown door will always be open for a visit Brad," they concluded.
