Both Kilkenny clubs have reason to celebrate after winning Leinster final and quarter-finals respectively

FYI: Muckalee and Danesfort wave the Kilkenny flag in Leinster competition

It was a 'Super Saturday' for the clubs of Muckalee and Danesfort who both recorded note-worthy wins in their respective Leinster championships.

Muckalee became the first Kilkenny club to win the Leinster junior crown in over two decades after an epic provincial final win over St Colmcille's of Meath on a 1-5 to 1-4 scoreline.

In a low scoring affair where the Kilkenny side dominated the possession, the win was never a sure thing with their opponents always offering a threat.

Every score felt significant and Muckalee put themselves in a strong half-time position (1-1 to 0-2) with Ellen Lawlor (Goal) and Katie Nolan raising the all important green and white flags respectively.

The Meath champions did set up a tense finale when they netted on the 44th minute leaving the sides level for much of the closing stages.

However, a Kate Purcell winning score in the last quarter meant the North Kilkenny club emulated the achievement of Railyard in 2004.

Meanwhile, also on Saturday, Danesfort put the disappointment of their short lived provincial campaign three years ago to bed with a gritty 1-24 to 2-14 win over St Mogue's, Fethard in their AIB Leinster Intermediate Quarter-Final.

After a strong opening for Adrian Burke's team, the Wexford intermediate champions made use of a strong wind to edge their noses 2-7 to 0-11 in front at the interval.

But, a goal inside five minutes of the new half from Fionn Mahony, who swapped the role of impactful sub to key starter swung the pendulum in Danesfort's favour who marched on to a Leinster semi-final with seven points to spare.
