Junior county camogie glory for Dicksboro against John Lockes

Dicksboro are Junior County champions after they defeated John Lockes in Tullaroan last Saturday afternoon.

Megan Trait opened the scoring for Dicksboro with a point from play within the first minute.

A minute later, Aisling O’Sullivan found the back of the Boro net after a neat pass by Leah O’Donovan.

Niamh O’Donoghue slotted over a free for the Boro and Sophie Roberts tagged on another free for the city side to level the match.

Aisling O’Sullivan added a point from play for John Lockes before Megan Trait and Niamh O’Donoghue slotted over points for the Boro.

A quick reply by Aisling O’Sullivan who added on John Lockes next score came before a point from a free by the Boro as they hit a purple patch.

Lisa Hanrick then added to the Boro scoresheet with a fine point, before Sophie Roberts got in for her second point for the city side.

In the 15th minute, Lisa Hanrick got in for a goal for the Boro while Niamh O’Donoghue added another point.

Over the next 10 minutes, both teams tried to add to their tallies, but both defences stood strong.

Sophie Roberts and Tara McGrath then slotted over a point each for the Boro and Aisling O’Sullivan added on two points for John Lockes to leave the interval score 1-10 to 1-4 in favour of Dicksboro.

On the resumption of play, John Lockes got off to a great start.

Emily Phelan slotted over a point before Aisling O’Sullivan knocked on two points.

Phelan duly added another point to narrow the gap to two points.

Emma Hogan and Niamh O’Donoghue slotted over points for the city side to push it back out to four points.

Aisling O’Sullivan found the target with two pointed frees and Emily Phelan slotted over a point to bring it back to the minimum again.

Emma Hogan tacked on another point for the Boro in the 62nd minute before John Lockes went for a goal, but it was deflected out for a 45, which Rachel Phelan converted.

In the last few seconds of the match, John Lockes tried to get an equalising or winning score, but to no avail and the referee blew the full time whistle with Dicksboro winning on a 1-13 to 1-12 scoreline.
