AVOID: Warning issued amid flooding on multiple roads in Kilkenny

Flooding in Bennettsbridge and Thomastown as water levels rise across County Kilkenny

Due to rising water levels in Kilkenny, gardaí are advising motorists to avoid the following areas where possible:

1) Annamult Road, Bennettsbridge

2) Station Road/Marshes Street/The Quay, Thomastown

"Both remain passable at present but the water levels are continuing to rise," a garda spokesperson said.

"Marshes Street Car Park, Thomastown is currently inaccessible.

"Motorists are advised to take care at these locations.

"Motorists should never drive into floods without knowing the depth. Also remember that standing water of any depth may destroy an engine when taken into the intake.

"Please be wise."
