'We are flooded' - popular Kilkenny business issues major update

Flooding has impacted the operations of Tabu Tapas in Thomastown, County Kilkenny

Popular Kilkenny eatery, award-winning Tabu Tapas (located in Thomastown), has issued an update on social media as water has flooded the back of their business premises.

"Heads up Thomastown, we are flooded," explains chef and co-owner Rodrigo Gonzalez in a video for followers.

"We will keep you updated about dinner service tonight (Saturday) but definetly close [sic] for lunch.

"Hope everyone is staying safe and dry."

Due to rising water levels in Kilkenny, gardaí are advising motorists to avoid the following areas where possible:

1) Annamult Road, Bennettsbridge

2) Station Road/Marshes Street/The Quay, Thomastown

"Both remain passable at present but the water levels are continuing to rise," a garda spokesperson said.

"Marshes Street Car Park, Thomastown is currently inaccessible.

"Motorists are advised to take care at these locations.

"Motorists should never drive into floods without knowing the depth. Also remember that standing water of any depth may destroy an engine when taken into the intake.

"Please be wise."
