Christmas at Mayfair Library
Kilkenny County Council Library Services is inviting families to join in a month of festive fun and creativity this December as part of the national Family Time at Your Library initiative.
This programme, under the Right to Read campaign, encourages families to enjoy reading and learning together through engaging, interactive events. Throughout December, libraries across Kilkenny will have a wide range of activities designed to bring families together and make reading a joyful experience.
From Christmas crafts and card-making workshops to storytime sessions, LEGO mornings, and even Santa’s visits, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Events at Graiguenamanagh Library include family scrapbooking (December 2), card making (December 4) and a Christmas movie night (December 16), while there will be storytime and crafts every Saturday in December at Thomastown Library.

Santa will pay a special visit to Urlingford and Castlecomer libraries on December 9 and 16, complete with stories, games and a festive sing-along.
In Kilkenny City, toddler storytime and magic table will take place at Loughboy Library on December 5 and 12 while there will be weekly storytime and craft sessions, plus messy play for toddlers and neurodivergent children.
Speaking about the initiative, Executive Librarian with Kilkenny County Council Library Service, Sophie Walsh said: “Family Time at Your Library is all about creating opportunities for families to connect through reading and creativity.”
“December is the perfect time to come together, share stories and make memories that last a lifetime. We’re delighted to offer such a wide range of free events for all ages across our libraries.”
All events are free, and most require no booking.
