Cllr Sean Ó hArgain believes the introduction of new public transport measures are needed as soon as possible.
"We need to move ahead as quickly as possible with a park and stride and ride," he told the latest sitting of the Kilkenny City Municipal District.
"We must have a situation where the bus routes are directly connected to where people can park and come in from rural areas and either walk on, cycle on or connect with the public transport system," Cllr Ó hArgain continued, emphasising the need for such a system in the Waterford Road area where people are coming in ‘substantially’ from rural areas.

In response, Senior Roads Engineer with Kilkenny County Council, Stan Cullen said this will be delivered under the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) process.
