A woman who said she had taken cocaine at a festival in the days leading up to being stopped by gardaí was convicted of drug driving at Kilkenny District Court.
Andrea O’Regan, 64 Newpark Close, Kilkenny admitted the offence at Green Street, Kilkenny on August 27, 2024.
The court heard that on the date in question gardaí stopped the defendant who was driving a vehicle and ‘appeared nervous’.
Gardaí conducted a drugs test and the defendant tested positive for cocaine.
The court heard that the defendant has 35 previous convictions including convictions for no insurance and drugs offences.
Solicitor Chris Hogan said that his client co-operated with gardaí and told them that she had been at a festival in the days prior to being stopped by gardaí and that she had taken cocaine at the festival.
Judge Geraldine Carthy convicted the defendant and fined her €150 and disqualified her from driving for one year.
