Two new raised zebra crossings, one north and one south of Presentation Primary School have been installed on Parnell Street in Kilkenny City.
It's hoped that the measures will create a much safer school zone for children walking, cycling, and scooting in the area.
"Using Safe Routes to School guidelines, the area now features colourful road markings and pencil bollards that calm traffic and make the school zone impossible to miss," a Kilkenny County Council spokesperson said.

"A simple upgrade making a big difference for the community. If you need to drive, please use nearby car parks and complete your journey on foot to make it safer for all," they added.
This project was funded by the National Transport Authority’s Active Travel Programme and was delivered by the Active Travel team in conjunction with Kilkenny Municipal District.
