LATEST: Kilkenny Trolley Watch figures revealed as local flu cases remain prevalent

There are five patients waiting for a trolley in the emergency department at St Luke's General Hospital in Kilkenny today and a further four patients waiting on the ward according to today’s (Tuesday) INMO Trolley Watch figures.

Nationally, there are 176 patients waiting for beds, 122 patients are waiting in the emergency department, while 54 are in wards elsewhere in the hospital.

Meanwhile, St Luke’s General Hospital, Carlow Kilkenny continues to implement visitor restrictions across the hospital to reduce the spread of flu, Covid-19 and RSV.

Only one visitor per patient is permitted during visiting hours of 6pm to 8pm, unless otherwise authorised by the ward manager. Designated visitors will be asked to wear a mask while in wards.

Currently, the hospital is experiencing a high number of people presenting with respiratory viral illness. These measures will be kept under review. - READ MORE HERE
