Kilkenny's first match of the 2026 season will have to wait for another few days yet after the county's scheduled Walsh Cup clash with Westmeath was cancelled on Sunday.
The match was originally due to be played in The Downs but was moved to St Loman's GAA grounds in Mullingar following a pitch inspection.

Kilkenny manager Derek Lyng indicated afterwards that his team were willing to play on the grass pitch in St Loman's but after closer inspection that was also deemed unplayable.
