A number of experienced stars make their first start of the year

Kilkenny name strong team for Walsh Shield Final against Kildare

All-Star nominee Cian Kenny will make his first appearance of the season for the Cats on Sunday.

Kilkenny manager Derek Lyng has welcomed a number of experienced players back into the fold for this Sunday's Walsh Cup Shield Final with Kildare in Callan.

Eoin Murphy, Cian Kenny and Mossy Keoghan all make their first start of the year while the likes of Mikey Butler, John Donnelly, Paddy Deegan and Richie Reid are also on the bench as the Cats look to kick off the season with a bit of silverware on the board.

There is also further opportunites for new players in the shape of Rory Garrett, Liam Moore, Marty Murphy and Killian Corcoran in what is Kilkenny's final competitive outing before the league opener at home to Offaly.

The experiment of testing Mikey Carey at full back gets another examination while in the absence of TJ Reid, the side will be captained again by Darragh Corcoran.

Throw-in from John Locke Park is at 2pm.
