What we know as flooding causes severe disruption to County Kilkenny

The clean up effort is underway across County Kilkenny after days of flooding disrupted travel, business operations and family life.

After Storm Chandra hit the country on Monday and Tuesday, subsequent days of severe flooding left parts of Graignamanagh, Inistioge, Thomastown and some isolated parts of the county under water.

A Status Yellow rain warning issued by Met Eireann ceased at midnight on Friday.

The Quay along with Station Road/Marshes Street in Thomastown were impassable for much of Friday.

Meanwhile, flood water is still rising slightly on the quay in Graignamanagh with the local authority asking people to avoid the area.

Kilkenny County Council is also requesting the public avoid travelling to areas with high or low volumes of flood water.
