Where it went wrong as Kilkenny lost out to Cork in Hurling League

Main Man
Liam Moore (Kilkenny)
While Cork were ultimately much the better team on the day, there was still plenty of promise from the Kilkenny side of things with Ivan Bolger and Ed McDermott doing well on their first league starts in addition to Liam Moore who again stood out with a brilliant individual display as his pace and strength caused big problems to the Leesiders defence.

Highlight
Even though Cork got in for three goals and also missed a penalty, Kilkenny somehow stayed in the fight right up to stoppage time with their battling qualities and never say die attitude really coming to the fore.

Lowlight
Cork opened up the Kilkenny defence on a number of occasions and the seeming ease at which they created so many goal-scoring opportunities will undoubtedly be of some concern especially with the championship only around the corner.

Talking Point
The weather conditions played a huge part but Kilkenny’s attack never really got going as a unit and with only 1-3 scored from play between the starting six forwards, it’s a part of the game that the Cats will be looking to improve on with TJ Reid and Adrian Mullen still unavaliable.

Turning Point
Cork’s third goal from substitute Alan Walsh put an end to the brave Kilkenny challenge as up to that point, the Noresiders had built up a decent degree of momentum after trailing from the get-go

What’s Next
Both teams are in action next Saturday evening in provincial final repeats with Derek Lyng’s side travelling to Salthill to meet Galway while Cork go head to head with Limerick at the Gaelic Grounds.
