Premier Division strugglers dealt further blows - Kilkenny & District League Review

It was another busy weekend in the Kilkenny & District League with Maher Shield semi-finals spearheading a schedule which also included action in the three domestic junior leagues and a match in the McCalmont Cup.

Callan United A 0, Thomastown United A 2 - Thomastown United (seventh) moved eight points clear of their hosts (ninth) on Sunday morning, ending a run of three successive defeats in the process. Goals in either half were enough to secure the Grennan outfit’s fifth league win, with David Holden (15th minute) and Sean Denieffe deep in stoppage time netting the goals.

Callan have only won two of their 12 games so far, one of which came against bottom of the table Deen Celtic.
