The race is on to see who will get their hands on the Kilkenny Scratch Cup this year.
The Cup, which this year is sponsored by MW Hire, was launched at Kilkenny GC at the weekend.
The Scratch Cup has been running since 1963. The first winner of the prestigious silverware was Tommy Duggan, while other winners over the years include John O’Leary, Damien McGrane, Padraig Harrington, Ronan Flood. It has also been won on multiple occasions by Eddie Power.
The current holder is Kilkenny GC member James Everard. Six-time winner Power made a strong push for home in the 2025 decider, but Everard held his nerve - a birdie on the 17th hole and a par on the 18th saw him complete a round of 70 to claim the spoils.
