Kilkenny city boxing trainer honoured with notable national award

The Marble City Boxing Club’s Garry Kehoe has been named Kilkenny's 2025 Volunteer in Sport.

The Volunteer in Sport Awards, hosted by the Federation of Irish Sport and supported by the National Network of 29 Local Sports Partnerships.

The awards celebrated volunteers who make sport happen across Ireland.

“Garry’s commitment and passion make such a difference, massive well done,” a spokesperson for The Kilkenny Recreation & Sports Partnership posted on social media.

“Garry has shown incredible leadership and dedication to Marble City Boxing Club and the wider Kilkenny community.

“He has helped grow the club from 50 to 120 members, developed five qualified coaches, and ensured boxing is inclusive for everyone, including athletes with physical and intellectual disabilities,” they added.
