A powerful display of community spirit, compassion and purpose was evident in Kilkenny recently as three members of Kilkenny Hockey Club hosted an inspiring and impactful fundraising event in honour of International Women’s Day.

Organised by Sara Browne, Ally Carter, Paula Farrell and Sinéad Connery, the event brought together women from across the county for an elegant and uplifting afternoon at Langtons, Kilkenny. Guests enjoyed a beautifully arranged afternoon tea with prosecco, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere that set the tone for a truly meaningful gathering.

At the heart of the event was a series of engaging guest speakers and a thought-provoking panel discussion, where stories of resilience, strength and personal growth left a lasting impression on all in attendance. The room was filled with a shared sense of empowerment, as women connected, supported one another, and celebrated the spirit of unity that defines occasions like this.

The fundraiser was held in aid of Amber, a vital organisation supporting women and children across the Kilkenny and Carlow region. Providing essential refuge, resources and specialised services - many of which rely on fundraising support - Amber plays a critical role in offering safety and stability to those facing challenging circumstances.

Funds raised will directly contribute to the continuation and expansion of these services, including child-focused initiatives such as therapeutic spaces and safe play areas.

The event was widely praised as both enjoyable and deeply meaningful, combining social connection with a strong sense of purpose. It not only raised significant funds but also shone a light on the invaluable work carried out by Amber every day.

More than just a fundraiser, the event stood as a powerful testament to the strength, generosity and solidarity within Kilkenny, leaving a lasting impression long after the day came to a close.
