The International Tennis Federation's World Juniors Tennis Tours took place at Kilkenny Lawn Tennis Club

Some of the world's most promising young tennis players competed in six days of top-class action at Kilkenny City and County Lawn Tennis Club last week.

The local club played host to the International Tennis Federation's World Juniors Tour U18 J30 competition with high-energy matches taking place in boys and girls categories across singles and doubles.

There were strong Irish performances in all competitions. Home player Ronan Doyle was narrowly defeated in the boys singles semi-final by the eventual winner from Slovakia, Dylan Bairo.

In the girls singles event, Ireland's Scarlett Foley lost out in the semi-final to Italian player, Camila Iannece.

In girls doubles, Alex Daisy Halley and her British partner Ava Moss made it all the way to the final before a loss to the Italian pairing of Iannece and Eleonora Tranchero while in boys doubles, the all-Irish team of Doyle and James McMillan just missed out against Bairo and Jerzy Filip Urban of Poland.
