Kilkenny-based racquetball club wins big at All-Ireland Championships

Clogh-Moneenroe Racquetball Club had a fantastic weekend at the All-Ireland National Championships in Kingscourt, County Cavan, bringing home a great share of titles.

In the Novice grade, Erin’s Own man Dan Coogan led the way in style, claiming gold in both singles and doubles. He partnered Ryan Lawlor to win the doubles final against clubmates Jack Carroll and Shane O’Dowd. Dan also took gold in the singles, defeating fellow Clogh-Moneenroe player Patrick Brennan (Mothel), who secured a well-earned silver.

There was more success for the club with Jack Carroll taking bronze in the Novice grade, while Ryan Lawlor added a silver in the Novice Plate.

In the D singles Division, clubman Billy Nolan won gold against Cork man Connor O'Callahan from Fermoy. Billy also played intermediate doubles with partner James Bolger going out at the semi-final stage. 

Don Lawlor and Billy Walsh won gold after a great battle with the Arklow team of Jimmy Gannon and Damien Kavanagh.

In the Open doubles division, Muckalee man, Mark Murphy, won gold with partner Johnny O'Keeney, while in the main event, open singles final, Mark played a great match against Cavan man Joe Dillon.

He won the first two games before Joe brought it to a tiebreaker and eventually winning out to take the title.
