Three-time All-Ireland winner with Kilkenny, Walter Walsh, has stressed the need for players to grasp their opportunity in the Kilkenny under-20 panel, stressing opportunities for hurlers at this level do not come around often, with teams changing year to year.
Henry Shefflin's team have a win and a draw under their belt so far in the Leinster round robin series, with Galway in O'Moore Park lying in wait on Wednesday evening.
"You only get a couple of chances to play under-20 championship," Walsh told the Kilkenny People Sport Podcast.
"It is special, it's your best friends that you've built relationships with," the Tullogher Rosbercon man explained, stating, "there isn't always next year when you have the under-20 championships, so when you get that bit older, that's it. That's what makes it kind of special and unique. The teams are changing every year."

The Tullogher–Rosbercon man is optimistic that Shefflin’s side will be competitive in this year’s championship.
"Kilkenny, I'm hoping, will be very competitive in it, a lot of the minor team will be brought on to it as well. It's about getting those guys working together, building a spirit and getting those guys working together, building a spirit in the group and hopefully getting success as well," he continued.
