A man accused of having approximately €120,000 worth of cannabis in his possession for sale and supply to others was remanded in custody to appear before Kilkenny District Court.
Caylin Quigley, Upper Patrick Street, Kilkenny appeared before Kilkenny District Court yesterday (Tuesday) charged in connection with a drug seizure in Kilkenny City on Monday. Mr Quigley is accused of having drugs in his possession for sale and supply and for personal use at his home address on December 5.
Garda Mary Keegan gave evidence that on December 5 she arrested the defendant at his home address at Upper Patrick Street in Kilkenny City and that he was detained at Kilkenny Garda Station. He was subsequently charged in connection with the cannabis seizure and made no reply after charge.
An application for bail was made in court and Garda Keegan told the court that gardaí were objecting to the application due to the seriousness of the alleged offence. Garda Keegan said that following an intelligence-led operation a search warrant was obtained and executed at the home of Caylin Quigley.
It is alleged that during the search of the premises, six parcels of cannabis herb were found in the bedroom of the suspect, with an approximate value of €120,000.
Judge Geraldine Carthy refused the bail application. The defendant was remanded in custody to appear via videolink before Kilkenny District Court on December 14 for DPP’s directions.
