Déjà vu! Despite speculation, owner of €100M shopping centre in Kilkenny remains unknown

Ferrybank Shopping Centre, County Kilkenny

Councillors in South Kilkenny have hit back at the fact that the identity of the owner of Ferrybank Shopping Centre remains unknown, despite widespread speculation that it is Dunnes Stores.

Cllr Ger Frisby asked if any correspondence on the issue was received from NAMA at this month's meeting of Piltown Municipal District Council.

Senior Planner Denis Malone stated that the Chief Executive has written again to confirm who the owner of the centre is.

Frisby stated that details around the ownership of the centre 'have resonance with everyone and are on the tip of everyone’s tongue'.

"Everybody knows it's Dunnes Stores but no one’s saying that," Frisby told elected members.

"We need to know as a local authority who the new owner is so that we can start constructive engagement with them."
