Returning after an absence of two years, Bowie Day takes place in Ryan’s Bar, Friary Street this Saturday.
Kicking off from 7:30, the fifth edition of this popular local celebration of the Starman features a host of local talent; The Oddities with special guests Sylvia Knox, Jan Murphy, Canice Kenealy and Aoife Meagher, Raindogs, Star Comedy Democrats, Ray O Sullivan and friends, Annabel Tuohy and Gerard James Hough.
This year all proceeds from Bowie Day will go to Care For Carol; a fundraiser for essential medical treatment for Kilkenny woman, Carol Donohue. After a simple procedure went terribly wrong resulting in a cerebrospinal fluid leak, Carol has been left with a life- altering condition, suffering from constant pain and debilitating symptoms which have her bed ridden on a daily basis. Unfortunately the treatment Carol needs is not available to her in Ireland and she has been forced to seek help abroad.
