A €500 fine was imposed on a man who organised a house party during a Covid lockdown and failed to ‘put his house in order’ when asked to do so by gardaí.
John Donovan, 6 Loretto Lodge, Freshford Road, Kilkenny was convicted of the offence at his home on February 28, 2021.
The court that shortly after midnight gardaí were called to the house and the defendant said that he was having a party for his partner. Gardaí told the defendant to ‘put his house in order’ and that he was in breach of Covid regulations and he failed to do so.
Solicitor Chris Hogan said that his client wished to apologise to the court for his offending behaviour and added that the event was ‘a family celebration’.
“He had alcohol consumed and he made some poor choices,” added Mr Hogan.
Judge Geraldine Carthy convicted the defendant and fined him €500.
