Planned investment in emergency works and additional accommodation has been approved in four schools across the city and county, local TD John Paul Phelan has said.
Under the latest tranche of investment, Listerlin National School has been approved for funding for universal access while emergency funding has been provided to St Patrick’s National School for an emergency door.
Additional classrooms have been announced for Carrigeen National School which is to benefit from reconfiguration works to provide a special education needs base.
At St John’s Senior National School, additional accommodation to be financed includes a general classroom, a special education and training room as well as a special education needs base.
“These are all necessary and welcome investments in our schools and will be of benefit to pupils, teachers and the wider community. Some of these investments may seem minor on paper but they will be welcome news for the various schools.
“It’s great to see life returning to some sort of normality in our schools after over two very difficult years for everyone involved. I look forward to seeing these works progress quickly and benefitting the various communities involved,” Deputy Phelan said.
