Charlie Bird coming to Kilkenny this weekend for fundraising walk

Kilkenny City will play host to a major fundraising walk organised by Cllr Joe Malone this Saturday, March 19, as part of the ‘Climb with Charlie’ campaign.

Charlie Bird, his wife Claire and a host of celebrities including Baz Ashmawy from RTE, Kieran Cuddihy from Newstalk and former Kilkenny hurling legends DJ Carey and Joey Holden will be amongst those taking part.

Local people can join the walk from Canal Square at the hurling monument from 10.15am.

It will commence and be led by Charlie Bird from 11am.

The walking group will first head down by the canal and up onto the Bennettsbridge Road by the Black Quarry before finishing up at the gates of Kilkenny Castle.

All are welcome to attend and those attending are encouraged to donate to Joe Malone’s online ‘Climb with Charlie’ iDonate fundraiser: ‘idonate.ie/JoeMalone108’.

All monies raised will go to the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association and Pieta House.

All donations are secure and a great way to show support.

Another local fundraising walk will take place next Saturday, March 26 at Castlecomer Discovery Park at 11am.

It is the last local fundraiser before Cllr Malone and DJ Carey head to Medjugorje to climb Cross Mountain on 'Climb with Charlie' day on April 2.
