The ceremony will include performances from the Kilkenny Gospel Choir and will contributions from the clergy, HSE, representatives of the gardaí, fire services, and young people.

The ceremony will broadly mirror the national event, with a reflective ceremony of readings, reflection and music.  Members of the public are invited to attend.

The ceremony will include performances from the Kilkenny Gospel Choir and will feature contributions from the clergy, Health Service Executive, representatives of the Gardaí, Fire Services, young people as well as an address from the Cathaoirleach of Kilkenny County Council.

This will be a commemoration of all those who passed away and who have been bereaved during the COVID 19 pandemic, whilst acknowledging the supports delivered to vulnerable members of communities through the efforts of each Community Call Forum.

Cathaoirleach of Kilkenny County Council, Cllr. Fidelis Doherty, said:   “This is an opportunity to appreciate and remember the impact the past two years have had on everyone which have been difficult and for many of us have been harrowing.  Even though we have lost much, the pandemic has also changed us and this is our chance to acknowledge this.  The pandemic demonstrated the power and extent of our resilience and the excellent way we all pulled together while staying apart.”

The ceremony will represent an opportunity for the people of Kilkenny to pause and reflect, take time to remember all those who have lost their lives during the pandemic, and pay tribute to everyone who has contributed to how we have faced and continue to face the challenges of the pandemic together.
