Local Portlaoise man John Delany recently received the Devin Toner Perpetual Award for his contribution to rugby in the North Midlands over nearly 50 years.
John was accompanied by his wife Dympna, daughter Catherine and son David on the occasion as he received the Award from Devin Toner.
The Award was presented as part of the North Midlands Finals Festival, where the Hosie and Lalor Cups were won (See separate pieces) as well as the U18s Area Final. All Clubs in the Area were represented at the presentation by their Presidents, In addition there was representation from the Women Captains in the North Midlands Clubs, members of the Womes U20s and the Sarah Robinson (U18) Girls squads.
In a Facebook post Portlaoise Rugby club said "Well done John! What a fantastic achievement and well deserved for all your hard work over the last number of years."
