Portlaoise Gardai arrested a man while patrolling the rail network in Laois yesterday.
Gardai have been stepping up their efforts to combat crime and antisocial behaviour on rail networks in recent times.
“Portlaoise Community Gardaí were conducting proactive patrols yesterday with Iarnród Éireann Irish Rail.”
“Operation Twin Tracks aims to eliminate anti-social behaviour on our trains and in train stations through high-visibility patrols and engagement,” Gardai said.

“During these patrols detections under the Misuse of Drugs were detected and a person was arrested and brought before Portlaoise District Court as a result of an outstanding bench warrant,” Gardai stated.
