Suspects in the burglaries of sports clubs in Laois and Offaly are due before the courts tomorrow.
The three men, two aged in their 20s and one in his late teens, were arrested last Thursday in Ashbourne, Co Meath.
They were detained in connection with burglaries of golf clubs in Laois and elsewhere in the midlands in recent days. It’s understood burglaries occurred in Portlaoise and Rathdowney on Valentine’s Day.
The men were arrested as part of Operation Thor, by Gardaí from the Laois/Offaly and Meath Divisions and a search was carried out at a premises in Ashbourne. Gardai said two vehicles were seized as part of the search operation.
The three men are due to appear before a sitting of Tullamore District Court on Monday morning.
Operation Thor was launched by Gardai in 2015. Its objective is to reduce burglaries and other crimes by targeting criminals who take advantage of darker evenings during the winter months to carry out criminal acts.
