Laois will be hoping last week's defeat to Wicklow was only a bump in the road as Billy Sheehan's side host Waterford. The away side will come to Portlaoise on Saturday evening hoping for their first points of this year's Division 4.
Laois will feel it was a game of two halves as Laois capitalised on Wicklow's inaccuracy in the first-half to race into a five-point advantage after 20 minutes. This is when Wicklow kicked into gear as they only went into the break behind by a single point. Laois had a tally of 1-4 as Mark Barry scored goal from the spot while the O'Dempsey's man kicked over three frees. Eoin Lowry getting Laois' only score of the half as they won a Wicklow kick-out.
The O'Moore County couldn't have asked for a better start as they raised the first two white flags of the half. Kieran Lillis and Lowry pointing from play. Like the game against Carlow, Laois didn't add a score to the scoreboard for neigh on 20 minutes. Laois were leading by three points at this point, but by the end of the 17 minute period, they were down by three as Wicklow tacked on six unanswered scores.
The game was nip for tuck until late on when Wicklow fired in their second goal and take a five-point lead as the clock ticked past 70 minutes. Laois made sure that they lost by two in the end as Barry scored his second goal from the spot.
If Laois are to come away with the win this weekend, they'll have to perform to the highest level and emulate their second-half performance from the Carlow game for the entirety of this game.
Sheehan has named a strong squad for the game with Laois boosted by the return of sharpshooter Evan O'Carroll while Brian Byrne also returns having scored two points from half-back against Carlow.
This is Laois' last home game of the campaign as they face tricky away fixtures against Leitrim and London respectively. A win for Laois would strengthen their push for a promotion place in the division's top two.
The game throws in at 6pm on Saturday evening and tickets can be bought here.
